Metals
CARAUCCI jewelry is handcrafted using stainless steel nylon coated wire and/or silk thread
and sterling silver wire. All findings and silver beads are
either sterling silver (92.5%), gold vermeil (22 kt gold micron plate), brass, or tribal silver
(80-90%).
Tribal Silver
Many of the pendants and beads that are used in CARAUCCI designs are considered antique or tribal silver, mostly from India.Ornamentation has historically been a measurement of wealth and status in many cultures. Silver and gold has been worn by both men and women in daily life and during ceremony as a form of honor, custom, and pride. Today, tribal silver is found mainly in the Northern states of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Original tribal silver from the Southern states, such as Orissa, is disappearing from the market and becoming costly and rare.
Indian Playing Cards
All pendants are antique and therefore, one-of-a-kind. They come in two sizes; 1” and 2” diameter and are set in a sterling silver and glass frame. Available in a variety of natural (earth tone) color combinations. Limited Edition.

Textiles
Vintage tribal textiles are both reclaimed and hand crafted. Slight imperfections such as small patches or fading are characteristic of these types of fabrics. Designs which incorporate
these types of textiles are delicate and need to be handled
with care. We recommend that you hang your piece on a wooden hanger
and air it out before storing it in your closet. Dry cleaning
is recommended only if necessary. Spot cleaning with a mild
soap and water is recommended for stains. Never machine wash or dry.
Jewelry Care Tips
To help diminish silver tarnishing, store your jewels in an air-tight container. To avoid kinks and knots in the wire, store either by laying down flat or hanging straight down. Liquid cleaning solution is not safe for your jewelry as it may damage the gemstones. Many gemstones tend to dry out and need to be oiled, i.e., grossular garnet, labradorite, flourite, and moonstones. We recommend that you simply pour a couple of drops of olive oil onto a soft cloth and gently rub it into the stones. Use a dry soft polishing cloth over the silver beads and findings to brighten the silver and then use to remove the excess oil from the stones.
Hand crafted jewelry can be delicate, but a little extra care will go a long way. Remember not to sleep in or wear your jewelry when you bathe or swim. Follow these steps and you will enjoy your jewelry for years to come.
